Being your Area 6 (California) Trustee has been a highlight of my professional career. My passion is thinking about and working for psychiatry, our patients, and the practice of our profession, and taking the issues we face in CA to our national organization. I am honored to be nominated to another term as your Area 6 (California) Trustee to the APA's Board of Trustees.
Being an effective Area 6 (California) Trustee is a like being a good cook - it takes more than following a recipe.
An effective Trustee must:
Have a thorough knowledge of the concerns and opinions of members in California,
Have a thorough knowledge of the concerns and opinions of members across the APA, and
Have an intimate knowledge of, and experience with, how to get things done in the APA
I have your back, and energetically work for our future professional lives and the care or our patients.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS!
What I bring to the role:
Experience that matters: Relationships forged over shared or opposing interests, the ability to both collaborate with and stand in opposition to a colleague or the larger body, and always return later to work toward shared goals.
Proven willingness to slog through the details of each and every packet, meeting, conference call, task force and work group.
Decades of participation and leadership in District Branch and California Psychiatric Association Councils and Government Affairs, and the APA, its Board of Trustees, Assembly, and components, helping hone local and national messaging to meet the needs of APA members in CA and nationwide.
I ask for your vote so I can continue to work on behalf of members of the APA in California and nationwide.
I welcome your comments and concerns. Please feel free to contact me.
